DenturesA removable prosthesis, made from either acrylic or cobalt chrome, that replaces any missing teeth. They can fill out a sunken upper lip and reduce the ‘pointed chin’ look that occurs from bone loss due to no longer having teeth. To achieve that natural look the patient must attend several appointments Appointment 1 - Initial impressions are taken from stock trays to allow a ‘special tray’ to be made. This is a tray specifically made to match the shape of the patient’s mouth. Appointment 2 – Secondary impressions are taken using the shellac ‘special tray’. A record of the patient’s bite is then recorded. Next a shade will be chosen that matches the patient’s teeth. Appointment 3 – Try-in stage allows the patient to experience how the denture will sit and look. This stage has the denture made out of wax so it can be easily amended if needs be. Appointment 4 – the final stage is the fit of the denture, with any minor alterations carried out. A review appointment will be made to ensure the patient is happy with the denture and no further adjustments are needed. |
