Why should you use your dentist?

Your dentist has been trained to identify any problems within your mouth. It takes 5years to just qualify with a continuous up to date training schedule through out the rest of their professional career. They can therefore give up to date advice and treatment, suitably recommend you, if needed, to the correct dental specialists/hygienist and help you reach and maintain a healthy smile.

Dentist Vs GP
Only a dentist can deal with anything related to the teeth, a GP can only recommend antibiotics or painkillers, but this does not remove the reason to why you are suffering from dental pain. Your dentist can diagnose the cause of your dental pain, provide treatment and advise on different forms of prevention. If you have any concerns regarding any lumps or ulcers in your mouth it is best to contact your dentist as their training is more focused on the mouth.

 Dentist Vs Beautician
The General Dental Council states that tooth whitening is practicing of dentistry and can only be provided by a registered dental professional. Anyone who is not a registered dentist, hygienist or dental therapist, cannot provide tooth whitening to the public and can be prosecuted by the GDC.

Dentists are more equipped to deal with increased tooth sensitivity, can prevent chemical burns to the gum and ensure there are no leaking fillings or holes in your teeth that bleach can access, resulting in pulp death.
